By ferry to DUMBO and Brooklyn HeightsListenelement 1A much nicer and more exciting way to get to Brooklyn than by subway is by ferry across the water. If you get off at the DUMBO stop, you're immediately in Brooklyn Hights, one of the oldest and most beautiful residential areas in Brooklyn. The view of Manhattan from the Brooklyn Hights Promenade is unbeatable! You can also take the obligatory photo in Dumbo of the Manhattan Bridge on this trip when you make your way back over the Brooklyn Bridge.

insider tip - Hudson River ferryMany people know about the free Staten Island ferry, but only a few know about the NYC ferry, which goes even closer to the Statue of Liberty. With the following description, you can sail past Lady Liberty without large crowds of tourists. AND with the same ferry, you can then go straight to Hudson Yards. The beautiful skyline view of the city from the Hudson River is definitely worth it. The whole thing only costs USD 4 per ticket. Once you have reached Hudson Yards via the river, it is a good idea to walk down the High Line from there.

Under this link you will find a Google map of the most beautiful Christmas locations in Midtown New York, as well as a few stories and background information on American Christmas in general.
